HONOLULU (KHON2) — The City and County of Honolulu will host a fun, free hiring event aimed at giving Hawaii’s unemployed and underemployed people a chance to find work.

what’s happening?

  • More than 90 employers, including government agencies, corporations and nonprofits, are looking to hire.
  • A resource center with laptops and printers will be set up so job seekers can fill out applications and print resumes.
  • Free digital skills workshops will be hosted by Waipahu Adult Community School.
  • Learn about Hawaii’s QUEST paid internship program for adults, students, seniors and veterans.

Hawaii employment statistics

Hawaii has a low unemployment rate, so there are plenty of job opportunities.

As of May 2024, Hawaii’s unemployment rate is 3%. There are a total of 20,000 unemployed people, and 6,900 people applying for unemployment insurance.

This means that around 13,000 people who are registered as unemployed are unable to receive unemployment insurance for one reason or another.

The event will be held on Saturday, July 13th from 9am to 2pm in the Neal S. Blaisdell Exhibit Hall.
