Job Title: Lead, Systems Engineer (FAA) Job Code: 15027 Job Location: Melbourne, FL Job Description: L3Harris is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering with specific experience in requirements analysis, familiarity with FAA specifications and standards, and the ability to perform and document formal trade studies in accordance with Command Media. This role requires a proactive individual who can generate technical documentation, support proposal generation, and effectively communicate technical and program statuses to customers. As a Leader in Systems Engineer, you will be working to support the advanced systems and services that significantly increase the safety, security and capacity of global air traffic management systems to meet the growing demand of air transportation operations. Essential Functions: Conduct thorough requirements analyses and derivation, ensuring compliance with FAA specifications and standards. Perform and document formal trade studies in accordance with Command Media guidelines. Generate comprehensive technical memos and white papers that contribute to the knowledge base and support project objectives. Actively support proposal generation by providing accurate cost input, including Basis of Estimates (BOEs) and Rough Order of Magnitude (ROMs). Develop and present Technical Baseline Review (TBR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), and Critical Design Review (CDR) presentations to internal and external stakeholders. Deliver clear and concise technical and program status presentations to customers, ensuring transparency and fostering trust. Leverage experience with FAA and/or telecommunications to enhance project outcomes and deliverables. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Telecommunications Engineering and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. 6 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, with a focus on telecommunications. Public Trust security clearance. Experience with FAA specifications and standards. Experience in generating technical documentation, including memos, white papers, and review presentations. Preferred Additional Skills: General knowledge of cybersecurity and risk management methods and requirements related to National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) NIST 800-53 and 800-171 Expert communication/interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in both a team environment and independently. INCOSE® Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification Excellent people skills, with experience leading and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment. Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation) Proven ability to conduct formal trade studies and document findings. Experience with FAA and/or telecommunications Excellent presentation skills, with experience presenting to customers and stakeholders. Familiarity with proposal processes and cost estimation (BOEs and ROMs).
