Job Summary

The Privacy Specialist is tasked with ensuring the organization complies with privacy laws and regulations, managing data protection strategies, and protecting sensitive information. This role requires collaboration with various departments to implement privacy policies and procedures, conduct privacy impact assessments, and offer guidance on privacy-related issues.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop, implement, and maintain privacy policies and procedures in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Monitor compliance with privacy standards and conduct regular audits to ensure adherence. Keep abreast of changes in privacy laws and regulations and provide guidance to the organization as needed. – (30%)

  • Oversee the implementation of data protection measures to safeguard sensitive information. Conduct risk assessments and identify potential vulnerabilities in data handling processes. Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure robust data security practices. – (25%)

  • Develop and deliver privacy training programs for employees to promote awareness and understanding of privacy policies. Create educational materials and resources to support ongoing privacy education. Conduct regular training sessions and workshops to keep staff informed about privacy best practices. – (20%)

  • Oversee the response to privacy incidents and data breaches, including investigation, mitigation, and reporting. Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address privacy-related issues and ensure prompt resolution. Keep records of privacy incidents and implement corrective measures to prevent future occurrences. – (15%)

  • Conduct privacy impact assessments for new projects, products, and services to identify and mitigate privacy risks. Work with project teams to integrate privacy considerations into the development lifecycle. Provide recommendations to minimize privacy risks and ensure compliance with privacy regulations. – (10%)

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • 5+ years of experience in Privacy, Compliance, Risk Management, Operational Support, or Data Governance or the financial services sector

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in developing policies and/or standards

  • Experience in assessing adherence to policies and/or standards

  • Relevant certifications in data governance, data analysis, or related fields

  • Normal office environment. Required to work onsite, full-time within 60 miles of a posted Bread Financial location.

Salary Range (unless otherwise noted below):

$87,900.00 – $159,200.00

Full Salary Range for position:

California: $101,000.00 – $198,900.00Colorado: $87,900.00 – $167,100.00New York: $96,600.00 – $198,900.00Washington: $92,200.00 – $183,000.00Maryland: $92,200.00 – $175,100.00Washington DC: $101,000.00 – $183,000.00Illinois: $87,900.00 – $175,100.00

The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.

Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26. New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period). Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates can immediately enroll in Bread Financial’s 401(k) plan.

All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Associates have discretion in managing their time away from work through the Flexible Time Off (FTO) program and may need to notify and receive approval from their manager prior to taking the time off. Associates (except those located in Illinois) receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time (“PSST”) upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year. Illinois associates receive 40 hours of Illinois PSST upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year and 40 hours of Illinois Paid Leave upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year. Illinois Paid Leave must be used before associates in Illinois will be approved to take FTO.

Hired associates will be able to elect the purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December. You will be eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance.
