Combining two missions: team building and social contribution
The “Hour of Power” program is an innovative team-building approach that seamlessly blends a community giving mission with the goal of strengthening team bonding. A departure from traditional team-building activities, the program offers companies a way to align their social responsibility efforts with an engaging, hands-on experience that inspires and inspires participants.
“Hour of Power” brings these two missions together in the following way.
- An introduction to energy poverty: The session begins with an eye-opening presentation that introduces participants to the pressing issue of energy poverty. This is more than just a lecture; it’s an opportunity to connect your team to a global challenge and inspire them to be part of the solution. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of how access to energy can transform lives, especially in terms of education, health and safety.
- Cooperative Solar Light Assembly: After the presentations, the teams roll up their sleeves and get to work assembling their solar lights. But this is more than just a simple task. This is a chance to work as a team on meaningful work that will directly impact children in need. The collaborative nature of this activity not only strengthens teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, but also reinforces the idea that working together can actually create positive change.
- Building a personal connection through letter writing: To make the impact even deeper, each participant writes a personal letter to accompany the solar light they build. These letters are more than just words; they are messages of hope and encouragement that bridge the gap between the team and the children receiving the lights. This personal connection adds an emotional layer to the experience, making it more memorable and impactful.
- Influencing the world: Once the solar lights and letters are completed, they are shipped back to SolarBuddy to be safely delivered to children in off-grid areas around the world. This is where our team’s efforts come to fruition: the lights they build allow children to learn after dark, opening up a world of possibilities and paving the way for a brighter future.
“Hour of Power” is more than just a social contribution program; it’s about creating a sense of purpose and belonging within your team. For companies that prioritize social responsibility, the program is an ideal way to reinforce those values in a fun and engaging way. It’s especially effective for organizations in the energy, gas and utilities sectors, whose mission to provide reliable energy aligns perfectly with SolarBuddy’s goals.
The program offers a unique and exciting alternative to traditional team-building activities, ensuring that your team not only builds stronger bonds but also goes home with the knowledge that they have made a real difference in the world.
