As an industry leader in CSR, Caesars continues to achieve ambitious and diverse goals.
More than 23 years ago, Caesars Entertainment We have issued a Code of Commitment which states, “We will act in accordance with the highest ethical and legal standards, conduct our business with integrity and honesty, and respect internationally recognized human rights wherever we do business.” Today, we are an industry standard-bearer for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in many meaningful ways.
“At Caesars Entertainment, we are focused on continuing to develop, diversify and achieve our CSR goals,” Heather Lapp, senior vice president of corporate social responsibility at Caesars Entertainment, said of the recently released 2023 CSR report. “We are experiencing a period of progress having met and exceeded our interim emissions reduction goal three years ahead of schedule, and that work has allowed us to implement new, more ambitious goals this year. Our success in the environmental impact area is what motivates us to continue to grow and deliver results across our CSR efforts. We look forward to continuing to grow and make a difference in the communities where we live, work and play.”
Key points of the CSR report
The report details progress in four key areas leading up to 2023:
Environmental impact: After achieving its emissions reduction goal three years ahead of schedule in 2022, Caesars has a new goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 46.2% by 2030 compared to 2019. Additionally, several initiatives have been finalized to improve the carbon profile and overall environmental impact of Caesars Forum Convention Center in Las Vegas in 2023. These include a green cleaning program, a system that uses data and feedback to ensure key mechanical systems are operating optimally, and a composting program. The convention center is LEED certified at the Gold level.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: In 2023, Caesars held its first-ever enterprise-wide Business Impact Group (BIG) Summit, convening leaders from across the U.S. to Las Vegas for a two-day workshop. Participants shared learnings and best practices and developed strategies for each group moving forward.
Community Investment: Caesars Makes Change program, which was piloted at one property in 2021, allows guests to donate a portion of their slot cash-out tickets to charity. The program expanded to approximately 40 Caesars Entertainment locations nationwide in 2023, and has donated more than $1.25 million to partner organizations Meals on Wheels America and Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Supporting team members: In 2023, Caesars introduced a quarterly magazine for all salaried employees to encourage personal development and professional growth. The company’s executives have also completed more than 3,100 learning programs offered through its “Leading the Empire” professional development program.
Among its 2024 honors, Caesars Entertainment was recently awarded the title of Best Places for Disability Inclusion, receiving the highest score in the Disability Equality Index for the third consecutive year. In 2024, the company was also named one of USA Today’s Climate Leaders and one of Newsweek’s Best Places to Work for LGBTQ+ in America. Earlier this month, Caesars received a Corporate Social Responsibility Award from the National Council on Problem Gambling for its universal exclusion and 21+ gaming policies it implemented in 2023.
“We are very proud of our CSR efforts and company culture,” says Raina Hirschdorfer, marketing director at National Meetings and Events. “As a company, we understand the power of diverse thinking, which allows us to provide planners with creative ideas and innovative solutions suited to a variety of events and attendee demographics.”
