Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information EarnHire collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to earnhire.com, including the job search, the resume tools, the guides and the EarnHire Arcade games. If you have a question that is not answered here, write to privacy@earnhire.com.

The short version

  • You can search jobs, read the guides and play the games without an account.
  • If you create an account, we keep your profile and, if you upload one, your resume, so the resume tools can work. You can delete either at any time.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We use Google AdSense to show ads in some parts of the site, which uses cookies. You can control ad personalization through Google's settings (details below).
  • We use trusted service providers to run the site, such as hosting, sign-in, email, payments, AI processing and gift card delivery. They only receive what they need to do that job.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: your name and email address, or the basic profile your sign-in provider shares if you sign in with Google or LinkedIn.
  • Your resume and career details: if you upload a resume (PDF or Word) or type one in, we store its text and the details drawn from it, such as skills, experience and education, so we can build your career map and tailor resumes.
  • Job search activity: your searches, locations and filters, the jobs you open or save, and any application tracking you choose to use.
  • Messages: what you send when you contact us.
  • Payment details: if you buy a membership, payment is handled by Stripe. We receive a confirmation and your plan status, never your full card number.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage information: pages you visit and features you use on EarnHire, recorded as first-party events so we can understand what works and fix what does not.
  • Device and connection information: browser type, device type, approximate region, and connection details. For eligibility and abuse prevention we keep a one-way hash of your IP address rather than the raw address, along with the type of connection (for example home network, mobile carrier, VPN, proxy or datacenter).
  • Cookies and local storage: see the Cookies and advertising section.

Game information

If you play the EarnHire Arcade games while signed in, we store your progress, scores, streaks and play time on your account, along with any existing credit balance from an earlier rewards program. This is used to run the games, show your statistics, apply daily limits and prevent abuse.

How we use information

  • To run the job search and show results from our job partners.
  • To build your career map, tailor your resume to a role, and save the versions you keep.
  • To run the games, keep your progress, and apply daily limits.
  • To run memberships and, for members with an existing balance from an earlier rewards program, to process cash-outs.
  • To send account and service emails, such as sign-in, password reset, receipts and important changes.
  • To keep EarnHire safe: detect fraud, automated activity and duplicate accounts, and protect cash-outs.
  • To understand how the site is used and improve it.
  • To create anonymized, aggregated insights about the job market, such as which roles and skills are in demand. These never identify you individually.
  • To comply with the law.

Cash-out verification. For a first cash-out that is unusually large or earned unusually fast, or where activity is flagged as automated, we may use the profile and contact information you already gave us to confirm your identity. That information is used only for verification.

Cookies and advertising

EarnHire uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Essential: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and local storage for your preferences (such as a recent search or a game setting). The site does not work properly without these.
  • Advertising: we use Google AdSense to show ads in some parts of EarnHire, such as within the games. Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to EarnHire and other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices, or, in Canada, at youradchoices.ca. To learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

EarnHire is built for the US and Canada. For visitors in places where the law requires consent before advertising cookies are used, such as the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google shows ads only as those rules allow, which may mean limited or non-personalized ads.

Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies. If you block essential cookies, you will not be able to stay signed in.

Watching an ad never earns you money or credits on EarnHire.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:

  • Service providers who run parts of EarnHire for us: Netlify (website hosting), Appwrite (accounts and database), Postmark (email), Stripe (membership payments), Giftbit (gift card delivery), OpenAI and Anthropic (AI processing for the resume and career tools), IPQualityScore (connection and fraud checks) and Google (sign-in, if you choose it, and advertising). They are allowed to use the information only to provide their service to us.
  • Job partners: when you search, we send your search terms and location to job listing partners such as Jooble, Adzuna, Remotive, CareerOneStop, USAJobs, The Muse and Jobicy to get results. When you open a job, you go to the partner's or employer's site, and their privacy policy applies there.
  • Legal and safety: when required by law, or to protect the rights, property or safety of EarnHire, our users or others, including to investigate fraud.
  • Business transfer: if EarnHire is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that deal, under this policy's protections.

AI processing

The resume and career tools send your resume text and the job posting you choose to an AI provider (OpenAI, with Anthropic as a backup) to produce your tailored resume, career map or report. These providers process the data to return a result to us and, under their business terms, do not use it to train their models. We send only what the tool needs.

How long we keep information

  • Uploaded resumes are kept for 30 days after you last use them, then removed automatically. You can delete yours sooner at any time.
  • Account and profile information is kept while your account is open.
  • When you delete your account, your data is removed from our live systems right away and from backups within 30 days.
  • Payment, cash-out and tax records may be kept for as long as the law requires, typically up to seven years. These records do not include your resume.
  • Security logs may be kept as needed to prevent fraud and abuse.
  • Anonymized, aggregated data that cannot identify you may be kept to improve the service.

Your choices and rights

You can:

  • Access, correct or update your information from your account, or by asking us.
  • Delete your resume or your whole account.
  • Ask for a copy of your information.
  • Opt out of personalized ads using the links above.
  • Unsubscribe from non-essential emails using the link in each email.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or Canada's PIPEDA, including the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of the use of your information for targeted advertising (the advertising cookies described above, which you can also control through the opt-out links). To make a request, email privacy@earnhire.com. We respond within 30 days and will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to the people and services that need it, and we use automated checks to detect abuse. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and keep it private.

Children

EarnHire is built for job seekers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact privacy@earnhire.com and we will delete it.

Where information is processed

EarnHire is based in the United States and serves users in the US and Canada. Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. When we make significant changes, we will update the date below and, where appropriate, tell you by email or on the site.
