Coursera celebrates AI Appreciation Day with new GenAI courses, expanded

As the GenAI revolution advances, individuals are worried about job security and businesses are struggling to adapt. White-collar workers, in particular, need to stand out and demonstrate their GenAI skills to secure jobs and advance their careers. On AI Appreciation Day, we are reminded of our collective responsibility to harness the potential of GenAI and make it a driver of opportunity for all.

Today, we’re proud to announce several new initiatives aimed at supporting individuals and institutions during this critical time, including a new selection of GenAI-focused content and certifications, enhancing our current professional certification portfolio with GenAI-specific updates, upgrades to Coursera Coach, and an expansion of GenAI Academy to help companies equip their teams with GenAI skills. These launches allow us to further meet the unprecedented demand to learn GenAI skills on Coursera, as we expect more than 2 million enrollments across 250+ GenAI courses and guided projects (4 people every minute in 2024 alone).

Introducing 7 new GenAI courses, specializations, and certificates

  • Generative AI Certification for Software Development Skills From DeepLearning.AI – Designed for software developers and engineers at any stage of their career, this program teaches how Large Language Models (LLMs) work, their architecture, and their application in a variety of coding tasks. Learners gain knowledge about how to incorporate LLMs as members of their development team as pair coding partners who can help test and optimize code and improve efficiency.   • Artificial Intelligence Graduate Certificate University of Colorado Boulder – This comprehensive program helps learners build a solid foundation in key AI topics such as GenAI, natural language processing, computer vision, and ethics. Master of Computer Science The program is a degree-granting program at the University of Colorado Boulder designed to be completed within six to nine months.
  • Generative AI in Marketing UVA Darden Specializations – This four-course series explores how the GenAI framework, applications, and considerations are crucial to creating and maintaining an effective AI marketing solution.   • Change Management for Generative AI Vanderbilt University Courses This course delves into the strategies and frameworks organizations need to successfully implement and adapt GenAI.
  • Generative AI for Kids, Parents and Teachers Vanderbilt University Courses – Designed as a resource for parents and teachers, this free course helps kids navigate a world filled with GenAI. It teaches kids how to use GenAI to innovate, solve problems, use multimodal prompts, and engage in creative thinking.

Today, we’re excited to announce that we’ve expanded access to Coursera Coach to nearly all paying learners and improved the user experience.

Starting today, Coursera Coach will be available as a sidebar within the course experience instead of a pop-up, making it a more integrated part of the learning journey. Coursera Coach acts as an interactive guide throughout the course, enabling learners to:
