Airbnb’s Guest & Host division is responsible for Airbnb’s web and native apps, which are used by hundreds of millions of guests and hosts around the world. Guest & Host is home to the Quality Data Science team, which plays a key role in evaluating and improving the quality of Airbnb experiences. By developing data-driven strategies through causal inference and experimentation, and building cutting-edge technology in large-scale language models and reinforcement learning, Airbnb aims to ensure high-quality experiences and stays across the platform.

You will lead the team’s strategic efforts to define, measure, and improve the quality of the Airbnb experience for hosts and guests. You will have a significant influence on the development of a “universal system” that drives consistent quality across the platform and ensures a seamless and enjoyable experience for Airbnb users.
As a Senior Manager, you’ll be part of a highly collaborative team that is highly regarded by guests, hosts, and executive leadership. This cross-functional effort is focused on improving the reliability and quality of guest trips, connecting guests with listings that meet their individual needs, and defining and enforcing policy standards. Together, the team aims to drive change and improve travel reliability and the quality of trips.
A typical day:
Airbnb uses data science to analyze and improve various aspects of our business, including our quality initiatives. As a Data Science Lead, you will be responsible for:
- You will lead a team of data scientists providing strategic guidance and guiding them through advanced modeling and inference tasks in the area of data science quality.
- You will work with cross-functional teams to develop and refine Airbnb’s quality data science strategy and set the direction for the organization.
- Strengthening our commitment to quality We ensure accuracy and validity of highly sophisticated models and own technical excellence in the field.
- Serve as a key liaison between the Data Science Quality team and the Product organization, facilitating effective communication and collaboration at the highest level.
- You will provide executive-level leadership working closely with product, engineering and finance teams to align strategic goals and deliverables and drive the overall success of our quality efforts.
- Leverage advanced data science techniques to optimize user engagement and satisfaction, driving the development of groundbreaking and innovative strategies in the area of quality.
Your expertise:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s/PhD in a related field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, etc. with 12+ years of experience.
- Experience managing Individual Contributors (ICs).
- Deep understanding of machine learning, predictive modeling and data-driven product development.
- Extensive experience in the field of Data Science with expertise in forecasting and market trends.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to influence and drive change in a cross-functional environment.
- Proven experience developing and implementing data-driven strategies to address complex problems and improve business outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A strategic thinker with a passion for innovation and problem solving.

This position can be worked remotely in the United States. This role may involve occasional work at an Airbnb office or off-site participation as agreed with your manager.
