You have experience monitoring economic developments and love using data to tell stories. You are a strong writer and communicator and a good team player. Join the Consumer & Business Intelligence organization to help shape the analytical views and storytelling for Small Businesses and/or the Travel, Dining, and Shopping sectors through the lens of JPMC data. As the nation’s largest bank, we are uniquely positioned to inform public perspective on the direction of the economy.
As a Vice President Economist, you will collaborate with other economists to generate actionable insight related to the health of consumers and small businesses. You will work with other economists, data scientists, and the broader Consumer & Business Intelligence team in analyzing JPMC data to shape and share these views.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Define key business segments for long-term analytical monitoring such as specific industries or luxury spenders and near-term deep dives such as a spotlight on individuals disproportionately impacted by inflation
  • Develop an analytical agenda, in partnership with other Consumer and SMB Intelligence teams and analytics groups in other lines of business
  • Author internal and external reports on topics/segments of heightened interest
  • Create automated analytical artifacts that monitor the health of key segments to the business
  • Contribute analytical views and talking points in support of investor relations and external affairs
  • Contribute to the editorial calendar for Consumer and Business Intelligence

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills:

  • 6 + years of relevant in consumer/business finance, economics, analytics, or other related field
  • Advanced analytical mindset; you love digging into the data and defining what it tells you
  • Excellent writing and communication skills with the ability to effectively translate complex data into actionable insights and strategies for all levels of employees, including executive audiences and across multiple stakeholder groups
  • Ability to quickly translate and communicate microeconomic and macroeconomic trends in consumer & business data
  • Foundational understanding of market economics & econometric modeling of fundamental economic relationships
  • In depth appreciation and experience looking at data related to business finance, travel, dining, and/or shopping
  • Exceptional problem solving skills and ability to adjust to evolving business and financial climate
