Job Title: Interventional Cardiologist – Complex PCI, CTO, CHIP Specialist & Program Leader Location: Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, University of Miami, Miami, FL Position Type: Full-Time, Faculty Position Position Overview The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Miami is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Interventional Cardiologist with expertise in Complex Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI), Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO) interventions, and Complex High-Risk Indicated Procedures (CHIP) . This leadership role will focus on building a CHIP fellowship program, establishing a Center of Excellence in Complex PCI, and strengthening clinical and academic ties with Latin America . The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead a high-impact interventional cardiology program within a world-class academic institution. Key Responsibilities Clinical & Procedural Excellence Perform high-risk PCI, CTO interventions, and other CHIP procedures, utilizing advanced interventional techniques. Lead the development and expansion of the Center of Excellence in Complex PCI and CTO at the University of Miami. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including cardiac surgeons, imaging specialists, and heart failure experts, to optimize patient outcomes. Integrate and advance the use of cutting-edge technologies, such as IVUS, OCT, Impella, and ECMO, in complex cases. Education & Fellowship Development Establish and direct a CHIP fellowship program , training the next generation of interventional cardiologists in complex coronary procedures. Mentor and educate cardiology fellows, residents, and medical students in advanced interventional techniques. Develop educational programs, live case demonstrations, and workshops to enhance expertise in complex PCI and CTO procedures. Leadership & Program Development Take on leadership roles within the division, such as Director of Complex PCI and CTO Interventions or Director of the CHIP Program. Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and procedural success rates. Build a referral network and outreach program to strengthen regional and international patient access to the Center of Excellence. Latin America Collaboration & Global Impact Develop strong partnerships with hospitals, academic institutions, and interventional cardiologists across Latin America to enhance clinical training and research collaborations. Establish an international referral network, positioning the University of Miami as a hub for complex coronary interventions in the region. Lead global educational initiatives, including international CHIP symposia, training courses, and proctorship programs . Research & Innovation Engage in clinical and translational research in complex PCI, CTO, and CHIP procedures. Lead or participate in clinical trials evaluating novel devices, techniques, and strategies for high-risk PCI. Publish research findings in high-impact cardiology journals and present at national and international conferences. Qualifications MD or DO degree with board certification in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology . Extensive experience and demonstrated expertise in complex PCI, CTO interventions, and CHIP procedures . Proficiency in advanced imaging techniques (e.g., IVUS, OCT) and mechanical circulatory support (e.g., Impella, ECMO). Proven leadership experience in academic medicine, program development, or fellowship training. Strong academic track record with a commitment to research, education, and innovation . Experience or interest in developing global collaborations, particularly in Latin America . Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Florida . Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in an academic medical center or high-volume interventional program . Active involvement in clinical trials and research in interventional cardiology. Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred but not required). Demonstrated success in program-building and international collaboration .
