Manager, Corporate Development, Transactions
This Manager role will be a key member of Corporate Development’s Transaction Team . They will advise and execute on potential mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, as well as more generally evaluate financial and strategic opportunities and considerations, in partnership with Capital One business partners and key stakeholders, relating to businesses that Capital One operates or may consider entering.
In this role, you will work in support of Capital One’s overall corporate goals and will work closely with other areas of Capital One to bring an integrated, cross-functional perspective to these opportunities. You will support all phases of the transaction process, including negotiation, structuring, due diligence and integration. You will ensure the process is well-managed, and advise partners throughout.
Specifically, you will be responsible for:
- Creating and maintaining financial models for acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures, or other strategic opportunities
- Structuring analyses efficiently to ensure accurate conclusions with an economy of time and effort
- Conducting research on industries and/or companies
- Working collaboratively across a cross-functional project or deal team, building strong relationships across senior peers and business partners
- Independently running partner group meetings and presenting key messages to broad audiences
- Working with outside counterparties as appropriate (including companies and external financial, consulting or legal advisors)
- Managing and leading internal reviews of legal documents
- Writing and delivering communications to executive audiences
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Excellent financial modeling skills, including work in some or all of the following:
- Valuation analysis
- Merger consequences analysis
- Bank capital measurement / requirement analysis
- Direct involvement in mergers, acquisitions, and divestiture processes
- Proven knowledge of financial accounting
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills
- Strong problem solving, analytical, and conceptual thinking skills
- Advanced communication skills, both written and oral
- Demonstrated success with team management and project management, including ability to handle and effectively prioritize multiple concurrent projects
Basic Qualifications:
- At least 3 years’ experience in mergers & acquisitions or valuation modeling or a combination
- At least 3 years’ experience in financial analysis or financial accounting or a combination
- At least 3 years’ experience within financial services or financial technology or consumer finance or a combination
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or Master’s Degree in Finance (MSF), or Master’s Degree in Economics
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
- 5+ years’ experience in mergers & acquisitions or valuation modeling
- 5+ year’s experience in financial analysis or financial accounting
- 5+ years’ experience within financial services or financial technology or consumer finance industries
