ROLE OVERVIEW

The Manager of Shipboard Applications will oversee all shipboard business systems and collaborate closely with key stakeholders to align platform capabilities with evolving business needs.

This role will lead system administrators in managing improvements and issue resolutions. Extensive experience in the cruise or travel industry is highly preferred.

The hybrid position will be based in either New York or Seattle.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Oversee the deployment of marine operations applications and new features within existing applications, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Align platform operations with long-term business goals and proactively address potential challenges through adept problem-solving skills.
  • Manage complex software lifecycles, from development and implementation to updates and vendor collaboration, ensuring optimal performance and ROI.
  • Leverage and apply your deep understanding of API integrations, cloud-based infrastructures, and mobile solutions to enhance platform functionality and accessibility.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, foster collaboration, and deliver effective training to diverse user groups through exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Apply your experience with data security, compliance, and governance within enterprise environments, ensuring that the platform adheres to industry standards and protects sensitive information.
  • Partner with Compliance and our Cybersecurity Specialist to implement robust security protocols, conduct regular platform audits, and proactively address vulnerabilities.
  • Lead successful platform implementations, upgrades, and other complex IT initiatives.
  • Work with the Network support team to schedule application installations, upgrades, and service packs in accordance with established IT policies and procedures, minimizing downtime and ensuring business continuity.
  • Ensure latest releases and upgrades are deployed to shipboard systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality, bug fixes, and security issue resolution.
  • Maintain strong business and technical relationships with vendors, negotiating contracts, managing expectations, and ensuring timely delivery of services.
  • Ensure that for any new system or upgrade, there is a comprehensive training plan and a governance model on how the business will use these applications, maximizing user adoption and minimizing potential issues.
  • Collaborate with other IT systems to facilitate seamless data flow and integration between the shipboard systems and other software systems (Reservations, Financial, vendors), enabling efficient data sharing and analysis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven leadership experience managing enterprise software platforms, ideally with previous experience in MXP, NSE, or other cruise or marine systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 3+ years of experience managing a team responsible for business applications.
  • Outstanding time management and an ability to effectively multi-task.
  • Proven track record of establishing priorities for yourself and your team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and develop effective solutions.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with MXP/NSE Marine Operations/Procurement software is a plus.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of ITIL best practices.
  • Familiarity with maritime regulations and standards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear. The employee will also be required to write and type. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.

COMPENSATION STATEMENT

Lindblad Expeditions determines the pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data. We evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company. Our posted salary range is based on national data and may be refined for a candidate’s region/town/cost of living.

For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicant’s location, level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
