Job Description We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in fracture mechanics to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing, predicting, and preventing the failure of materials and components due to cracks and fractures. This role requires a deep understanding of material behavior and advanced analytical techniques. This position will report to a Principal or designee level staff member within our Engineering division. The position will involve a variety of general functions, including but not limited to: Conduct fracture mechanics analyses to evaluate the integrity and durability of materials and components. Develop and assess models for prevention of crack initiation and growth under various loading conditions. Perform failure analysis to determine the root cause of fractures and material failures. Provide recommendations for material selection and design modifications to enhance fracture resistance. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and other service divisions to develop innovative engineering solutions and prevent material failures. Assist with the preparation of claims or resolution of disputes involving technical/material failures. Write/Prepare technical reports and documentation for project findings and deliverables. Analyze results, providing recommendations for design improvements. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory codes related to fracture mechanics. Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager. Qualifications 10-20 years with mechanical and failure analysis project experience. Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Master of Science degree preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred, but not required. Proven experience with fracture mechanics and materials analysis in a professional setting. Proficient in mechanics software and tools (e.g., ABAQUS, ANSYS, NASGRO, etc.). Knowledge of industry codes, standard, and regulations Strong understanding of mechanics, material properties, fatigue/fracture behavior, and engineering principles. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to travel to client meetings and project site visits.
