Operations Manager Job Description
Our Business Technology Solutions (BTS) team shapes the digital transformation accelerating the future of medicine at a global pharmaceutical client – and we do it together, asking bold questions and taking on tough challenges through deep, honest collaboration.
The Operations Manager plays a crucial role in the technology product lifecycle assisting in the development and management of technology programs supporting our client’s Commercial Finance & Planning groups across the commercial Therapeutic business areas of Immunology, Oncology, Neuroscience, Eye care, and Specialty. This role entails leveraging a deep understanding of all aspects of the client’s System Life Cycle to support business systems from concept to production launch and throughout it’s operational life.
In this role you will be accountable for:
- Support the Product Owner in managing technology products from ideation to operation, including securing cross-functional alignment on project scope, solution, deliverables, and timeline.
- Overseeing and delivering all of the client’s required SLC elements, documentation and necessary steps in support of any change to a system or release, be it new build or small enhancement. Build re-usable implementation plan and schedule, tailored to scope of release/change and system
- Defining, implementing and managing the operating model for all systems within the PCF portfolio, including ticketing process and catalog services offered, incident/issue triage and resolution, and ad-hoc technical troubleshooting, as necessary.
- Interfacing across support teams and managing incident/issue items to resolution. Act as a Technical Lead related to addressing Infrastructure, security and access control elements across the system in the PCF portfolio.
- Delivering Operational Business Review sessions to update & educate BSO’s on the operational health and activity of their system, including utilization/performance stats, KPI’s and opportunities for process improvements and service offerings. May also be required to identify/manage operating costs and allocations.
- Possibly assisting in UAT and BTS unit testing of system features, capabilities and access control functionality. Coordinating Production sanity testing, end-to-end and regression testing, and performance testing. Monitoring and tracking issues during UAT and functional testing.
- Assisting with continuous improvements to the WoW/processes for ongoing requirements (demand) intake, scope clarification, epic and story grooming, estimating, traceability, generating timeline plans, defining, and executing UAT and testing strategies, release management, and validating engineering decisions.
- Making sure that as BTS we are consistent in applying our core capabilities to deliver technology solutions with speed, agility, and efficiency.
- Compliance with applicable client policies and procedures.
Operations Manager Requirments
- 7 to 10 years in a technology operations, technical lead or technical PM role
- Excellent communication and people skills, with a keen ability to build trust, listen, and ask effective questions with the goal of creating a scalable and reusable business solution along with forming effective partnerships. Ability to influence cross-functional teams to bring urgency to issues or action tasks.
- Ability to interact with business stakeholders to demystify complex concepts without relying on technical language. Ability to effectively problem solve and generate viable solution or action item options.
- Thorough understanding of and hands-on experience with SLC (Software Life Cycle) phases, including Build and Run aspects of a Technology Product.
- Demonstrable working expertise of Agile methodology, process and ceremonies, Dev/Ops methodology, and associated tools. Demonstrable experience with JIRA and Confluence.
- Ability to collaborate, self-motivate and manage time & priorities.
- Manage project tasks and deliverables to target dates and timelines. Conduct effective team meetings both onsite and virtual (Teams).
Operations Manager Nice To Have
- Understanding of or experience within the life sciences and biopharmaceutical landscape, including role of manufacturers, providers, patients, payers, distributors, and policy makers.
- Understanding of financial planning, sales forecasting and data management concepts and systems.
- Hands on experience with data management, data lake solutions and BI tools
- Assessment, diagnoses and re-engineering of business processes.
- Experience with change management planning, strategy and execution related to transformational business and/or technology changes.
- Hands on experience with data management & BI tools, including PowerBI.
- Experience with Palantir Foundry & SLATE
