JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for global management in the Retail and Consumer Products Quality organization, typically reporting to the Director of Global Technical Services. The Senior Quality Engineering Manager provides leadership and development of a high-performing team consisting of staff that includes other leaders to meet stakeholder expectations. Responsibility includes development and implementation of projects/initiatives to meet Enterprise and Quality Strategies. This role requires demonstrated working knowledge of Project Management, Process Improvement/Lean Sigma Principles, Audit and CAPA Tools and Techniques, Management Systems as well as Accreditation/Regulatory requirements.
This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week onsite at our Lowell, AR location.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain multiple accreditations as well as meet business requirements, establishes, develops and implements regional and global programs, quality policies, quality procedures, and performance controls; maintains UL Quality Management System to ensure compliance at the enterprise-wide level.
- Fulfill business and accreditation/regulatory requirements at a local, regional and global level across UL locations and schemes, ensures internal audits, corrective and preventive actions are performed, and initiates process improvement initiatives based on Key Performance / Business Indicator performance and internal / external assessments results.
- Monitor regional business / quality performance and improvement, participates in management reviews and internal and external assessments; collaborates with regional and global stakeholders to ensure development and implementation of monitoring/measurement techniques, ensuring that performance and quality of services conform to established standards while enhancing customer satisfaction.
- Achieve measurable business results, increase consistency, and maintain integrity of UL operations, takes leadership in driving continuous improvement enterprise-wide by identifying and assuring implementation of process improvements.
- Fulfill Enterprise and Quality Strategy objectives/initiatives, leads teams for implementation and deployment of projects to successfully meet objectives/initiatives.
- Fulfill business and department objectives and results manages regional budget, schedules and personnel.
- Responsibly implement corporate policies, performance requirements as well as quality initiatives and plans.
- Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
- Perform other duties as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- University degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or related technical field required.
- 10+ years of experience in engineering quality required.
- 5+ years of management experience required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in quality methodologies, statistical thinking, data systems, and statistical process control.
- Detailed knowledge of the ISO series of standards (e.g., ISO 17020/17021/17025/17065, etc.).
- Ability to develop and implement methodologies for evaluating the approach, deployment and results of process improvements for the region or globally.
- Knowledge of audits, CAPA and Lean Sigma Principles to monitor regional/global issues, audit activities and corrective/preventive actions to ensure proper communication and resolutions are achieved.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, complex, and technical projects.
- Communication skills interfacing with all levels of the organization to ensure consistency and integrity of ULs quality and business systems.
- Mentoring and coaching skills to develop and manage a high-performing team.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a matrix environment and lead multiple, complex, and technical projects with cross regional/functional teams.
