Senior Risk Specialist – Corporate Policy Office (CPO)
Capital One’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Team has responsibility for helping the overall organization identify, manage, and mitigate key risks that may keep the company from achieving its strategic objectives. The Corporate Policy Office (CPO) is a dedicated group of professionals within ERM, focused on executing second line-of-defense oversight responsibilities by improving governance and quality of policy documents for Capital One.
The team is seeking a Senior Risk Associate who will contribute to the establishment and execution of a sustainable policy program, including the processes to govern and improve the quality of policy documents across the Enterprise. They will be responsible for supporting policy program projects and initiatives related to the policy adherence program and operations processes. The Senior Risk Associate will partner with stakeholders to assist in the development and implementation of improvements to policy management. The Senior Risk Associate will build and maintain effective relationships with business partners.
Success in this position will rely heavily on working well with associates across the Enterprise. This role requires core strengths in Customer Focus, Results Focus, Problem Solving, and Communication. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with stakeholders, a demonstrated ability to manage processes through a risk lens, and an ability to assess and make improvements to the effectiveness of these processes. Further, the ideal candidate will have some general writing experience (including presentations) and an attention to detail. A commitment to collaboration and teamwork is required, with a results-focus.
Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the execution of a sustainable policy program to govern and improve the quality of policy documents across the Enterprise
  • Supports the execution of policy program projects and initiatives as it relates to the policy management system of record and policy document processing
  • Engages in the execution of policy adherence assessments and communicates results with CPO leaders and stakeholders
  • Contributes to the development and delivery of process enhancements as it relates to the policy management system of record and policy document processing
  • Contributes to the development of clear and concise customer-facing communications (written and presented) and policy related reporting
  • Supports audit/exam/litigation requests related to policies, standards and procedures
  • Collaborates effectively with stakeholders across organizations such as Operational Risk Management, Compliance, Legal, Technology, Internal Audit, Regulatory Relations, etc.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of audit, quality assurance or risk management experience
  • At least 2 years of experience supporting, partnering, and interacting with internal business clients
  • At least 1 year of experience in Process or Project management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
  • At least 3 years of audit, quality assurance or risk management experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in Process or Project management
  • Policy Management Experience
