We are currently looking for a Staff Accountant. This role needs to be located within a commutable distance to Fairport, NY, but will work in a hybrid model once onboarding is complete. This role may have occasional domestic travel.
Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented, initiative-taking Staff Accountant to join our North America finance team. Based out of our Fairport, NY location, this position will interact with various levels and functions within the organization, while working closely with the Accounting Manager. As our business transitions under new ownership, this position joins a unique team that will have varying degrees of involvement supporting: traditional areas of general ledger accounting, banking, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, inventory, and financial planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in performing month-end close procedures including:
- Identifying and preparing journal entries.
- Prepare general ledger account reconciliations, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Record, research, and reconcile intercompany transactions.
- Perform variance analysis to ensure financial statement accuracy.
- Support the preparation of month-end and year-end reporting packages.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support the close.
- Assist with coordination with our Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) partner to ensure timely and accurate processing of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Asset, and other financial transactions.
- Perform general accounting responsibilities and general ledger maintenance in accordance with company policies and internal controls, potentially including the areas of fixed assets and inventory.
- Collaborate with other departments to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities, potentially including CapEx and liquidity.
- Assist with financial and tax audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial data, as necessary.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, equivalent required.
- CPA certification or CPA candidate preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience, preferably in public accounting or relevant industry experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, and knowledge of IFRS.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software (preferably SAP) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with Power BI and consolidation/forecast software (Hyperion) are a plus.

Additional Information
The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $83,000-$94,000. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, job location, etc.
