We’re searching for our next Strategic Communications Specialist. This role requires an advanced communications background and will focus on communications related activities that support a federal health and science-focused agency.

Strong candidates will have experience supporting clients with executing communications activities and strategies. Experience providing support to a federal agency’s communications operations and public affairs is highly preferred. Job Location(s): This position is in the DC/MD/VA area. Must be able to travel to clients’ office as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic communications and public relations strategist.

  • Support an array of communications solutions to facilitate outreach, education, and ongoing communication with identified audiences.

  • Provide expertise in identifying, connecting with, and building upon relationships with appropriate stakeholders that would be interested in the latest evidence-based findings.

  • Deliver fresh, strategic, and innovative communications counsel to the client related to generating positive, impactful coverage of health and science related topics.

  • Develop communications materials in support of new or expanding programs and initiatives, including fact sheets, press releases and advisories, toolkits, talking points and other communications products.

  • Develop analytics reports that are key to federal health communications programs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance.

  • BS/BA in Marketing, PR, Communications, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience assisting in the research, planning, research and strategic development of a comprehensive communications campaigns.

  • 5+ years of experience working as an advisor and/or consultant to clients and project team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep knowledge of national, local, health and science press, and integrated communications

  • Demonstrated experience working for or providing support to the Department of Health and Human Services.

  • Experience supporting a public information and awareness campaign.

Professional Skills:

  • Excellent written and communication skills.

  • Strong research and organizational skills

  • Highly motivated self-starter, with ability to manage tasks and handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

Pay Range – There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$65,416.00 – $111,207.00
