Job searching is a grind, and most of the advice about it is "grind harder." EarnHire takes a different view: the breaks are part of the work. Earn & Unwind is a pair of free games built into the job board, made for the ten minutes between applications, and members earn toward gift cards while they play.
What Earn & Unwind is
Two games live inside EarnHire, right where the job results normally appear, and each opens full screen or in its own tab:
- Earn with Words: Dial Edition. A timed session on a board of spinning dial columns. Three modes take turns: Word Lock (spin the dial until the words line up, then draw them), Word Reactor (spell the clue, keep the streak) and Word Builder (build any real word). Gold bonus letters flash in the gaps for a moment. The difficulty adjusts to how you play, and every session ends with a grade. Season 1 holds more than three hundred puzzles.
- Resume Runner: Battle Against the Job Market. A three-lane runner through five worlds, each with its own hero, enemies and boss: Corporate Chaos City, Burnout Beach, the Factory of Rejection, the AI Interview Nebula and the Bureaucracy Temple. Jump, slide, switch lanes, throw your resume at anything that moves, and bring each boss down with a stack of resumes. Ninety-second levels, combo chains, a daily run with a shared map.
Anyone can play as a guest, no account needed. Signed-in members play the same games, and their play counts toward earnings.
How earning works, in plain terms
Earning on EarnHire is simple on purpose: you play, your play is counted, and what you earn banks to one balance that pays out as a gift card of your choice through EarnHire. You can earn up to $5 a day. There is no waiting period to start, no credit card, and cash-out opens once your balance reaches the minimum and you have played recently.
A few honest notes:
- Earnings land as you play. Every word solved and every level cleared credits your balance right away, and you can cash out the same day once the balance clears the minimum.
- Past the daily cap, play still counts. Anything you earn beyond the day's cashable amount goes to pending and releases later, so a long session is never wasted.
- Points and coins are the score, not the money. They track your progress, streaks and milestones. The balance is what pays out.
Why games, and why these games
We tried surveys and offer walls first. They paid slowly, felt like a second job, and pulled people away from the reason they came: finding work. Games do the opposite. A two-minute word pack clears your head between cover letters. A level of Resume Runner is a laugh at the job market instead of a worry about it. And every puzzle is quietly useful: vocabulary, workplace literacy, spotting a bad job posting, handling an interview question.
Tips to get the most from a session
- Play in the gaps. After you submit an application, before you start the next search. The games are built for short bursts.
- Grab the gold letters in Earn with Words. They flash for a moment between the columns and pay extra. The difficulty follows your streak and speed, so a good run pushes you up a tier.
- Sign in before you play a long session. Guest play is free and fun, but only signed-in play counts toward your balance.
- Share your results. Every Words session ends with a grade you can share, and every Resume Runner level clear posts your points. Friends who join through your share start as guests too.
Where to start
Open the Earn while applying panel on the EarnHire home page and pick a game, or go straight to Earn with Words or Resume Runner. Then get back to your search. That was always the point.
